Max Cartwright, una ragazza frequentante l'ultimo anno della scuola superiore, si reca con gli amici ad una proiezione pubblica di Camp Bloodbath, un film horror che ha visto protagonista la madre Amanda, ora deceduta. Durante la proiezione nella sala scoppia un incendio e, per salvarsi, rimangono vittime di uno strano incidente che li catapulta all'interno del film; Max ritrova quindi la madre e insieme ai suoi amici, affrontando i pericoli previsti dalla trama del film, tra cui un serial killer che brandisce un machete.......
