يرصد الفيلم في جو الرعب والتشويق سعي رجل وامرأة من أجل النجاة، فبينما يحاولان الذهاب سريعًا للمنزل قبل بدء عمليات التطهير، تتعطل سيارتهما بسبب نفاذ الوقود. يزيد الأمر تعقيدًا عندما يُعلن المذياع بدء عمليات التطهير فعليًا، وهذا يعني أن أية جريمة يمكن أن تُرتكب في تلك الليلة بدون عقاب، ويصبح أمر الذهاب للمنزل بالسيارة قد فات أوانة. يضطران لترك السيارة والترجل على القدم من أجل إيجاد مخرج لذلك المأزق بأسرع وقت قبل فوات الأوان، وقبل أن يكلفهما الأمر كل شيء.
